An Update from Fly’n Gypsy Arts

Welcome to the new year! 2016 is shaping up to be a good one.

In class news, I am offering a range of drawing, painting, collage and printmaking classes this Winter and Spring 2016.

Since October 2015, I have been working with Grumbacher and the Downers Grove Michaels to bring you beginners options in drawing and acrylic painting for kids and adults with the certified Grumbacher lesson plans. Classes are ongoing, Monday, Thursday and Saturday with some daytime, afternoon and evening options. New offerings there include Open Studios where you can bring your image reference and art supplies, and I will help you work on the art work of your choice. See the “Michaels Classes” page here on my WordPress for details and instructions to sign up online or in store.

At the Community Arts Council’s Northfield Square Mall Arts Center, I am continuing to offer classes on Tuesdays including Painting & Drawing Studio and Kid’s After School Art Club. Artists and enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to learn through daily materials and techniques demonstrations and work at their own pace with instructor assistance during these classes. Registration for single class days or full seasons is available directly through the instructor, Jessica Kronika. See the “CAC Classes” page for more details.

The Elk Grove Village Park District has a new display in the craft room of samples for my upcoming classes. Offerings for Winter include Watercolor Studio and Mosaic Collage.  In the Watercolor Studio, daily demos explore ways of using a variety of watercolor tools and techniques. All skill levels are encouraged to sign up, and explore still life, landscape, floral and portrait techniques. A portion of each class will be dedicated to individual student work on the subject of their choice. In Mosaic Collage, we will explore techniques and materials for making masterful or playful mosaic collages. Students will begin with a rough drawing and select papers and magazines to build a palette rich with color. The range of glues, cutting tools and application processes will be discussed during the daily demos. See the “Elk Grove Park District Classes” page for more information.

Spring will also bring some exciting opportunities for art and creativity. At the Elk Grove Village Park District, we are adding a brand new Introduction to Drawing class. L’Arte E Vida Studio in Lemont will be hosting Friday Watercolor Workshops. Starting in March, I will return to teaching printmaking classes at Expressions Graphics in Oak Park. Our Season at the Harrison Street Arts District starts with the March 18th, 2016 with the First Friday Gallery Walk and “Small Stamp Carving” for all ages from 7-8:30pm (Fee TBA). April will bring pronto plate printmaking options, for youth ages 8-12 and adult, with my co-teacher Carol Friedle. I look forward to sharing more art making details with you soon. Watch for more on these classes on the page: http://www.flyngypsyarts.wordpress.com
