Drawing & Painting Studios for Adults
Learn to apply basic to advanced techniques in either of these focused programs, including color harmony, light, shadow, brush and palette knife handling, on a variety of surfaces and variations of application. Lessons will involve working from photographs, still life or a mirror. Students will need to bring a sketch book and can collect photos they would like to work from. Students will create artworks at their own pace with individual instruction.
Instructor will provide some supplies and reference images. Student specific supply lists will be provided at first class, after an assessment of current skill level. Instructor will do demonstrations in a variety of media and individual focused instruction daily.
All students must register for class days
by Friday at noon the last weekday before class.

Learn techniques for a variety of painting media. Material options include: watercolor, acrylic or oil paints. Projects include sketching with painting materials, composition, perspective proportions, underpainting, volume, shape and value, brush and tool textures, glazed layering, impasto and painting mediums.

Learn techniques for a variety of drawing media. Material options include: graphite, charcoal or colored pencils, chalk or oil pastels, conte, water based and pigment markers. Projects include sketching with drawing materials, composition, perspective, proportions, volume, shape and value, gestural mark making for textures, and workable and permanent fixatives.
About the Instructor

Ms. Kronika holds a Bachelor of Fine art, with a specialty in printmaking and installation from Columbia College Chicago. In addition, mixed media artist Jessica Kronika trained in printmaking at Columbia College Chicago, with Friedhart Kiekieben and through an internship with David Jones and Chris Flynn at Anchor Graphics. She interned under the gallery coordinator as head preparatory and gallery assistant at the Center for Book & Paper Arts and the Interdisciplinary Arts Department.
Ms. Kronika has an Associates of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from Kankakee Community College, where she studied with Jane Haley, Linda Randall Powles and Jean Janssen. She pursued advanced coursework in painting with Javier Chavira and sculpture with Michael Hart, while attending Governors State University. Ms. Kronika has taught courses in mixed media, printmaking, book binding, painting, drawing and sculpture through the Bourbonnais and Bradley Park Districts, Bubotto Centre for the Arts (formerly of West Dundee), and Fly’n Gypsy Art Studios of Algonquin, Oak Park, Bourbonnais and Kankakee since 1996.
She currently also teaches printmaking, calligraphy and sumi painting at Expressions Graphics of Oak Park, drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, and printmaking without a press at the Elk Grove Village Park District, Grumbacher certified drawing, watercolor & acrylic painting at the Downers Grove Michael’s.
