Tulips Series Statement:

During 2019, my groups of art students in Bourbonnais, Schaumburg, and Lombard/Downers Grove, Illinois worked on many seasonal subjects and took our first field trip with workshop. All of my students were interested in attending field trips, and I began planning for our first weekend workshop at Holland Michigan, during April to May of 2020. At the middle of March, the world began to lockdown in reaction to Covid-19. As a result all travel was cancelled.
I decided to create a virtual tour of all the tulip sites sharing virtually during the pandemic. Out of this research, I developed a series of artworks depicting the flowers, history, nostalgia, gardens fields and landscapes revealed by Tulip Time Festival, Holland and Saugatuk, Michigan, the Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Washington, Roozen Gaarden in Mount Vernon, Washington, and the Dallas Arboretum, in Texas, USA. (Site links as used for reference available on request.)
Starting in May 2021, through the 24th of July, select works from the Tulip Series were on display at Dancing Krow Studio Gallery, 43 Harrison Street, Oak Park Illinois, 60304. Starting May 25th, and continuing every other Thursday, (May 27, June 10 & 24, July 8 & 22 , Aug 5 & 19, 2021) select works and inspirations will be featured in the Gallery’s Blog, see dancingkrowgallery on Facebook for more. Select works were in the gallery on exhibit and the series was displayed during the June 12th Pop Up Gallery and the July 24th Pop Up Gallery event at Dancing Krow Gallery, 43 Harrison Street, Oak Park, IL.
